GAME NOTES
Lexington SC will be facing off with Spokane Velocity for the first time ever. Spokane is the USL League One’s newest expansion franchise, joining the league this season.
Lexington SC has a new man in charge for the 2024 season with Darren Powell taking the reins for the club from interim head coach Nacho Novo. Sam Stockley, the club’s first gaffer, remains in his sporting director role, overseeing all men’s and boy’s soccer with the club.
Lexington SC will regain starting goalkeeper Amal Knight after he was suspended for the team’s road trip to Statesboro due to a red card he received.
The Boys in Green currently hold a 1-1-1 record in home matches this season, with the lone loss coming in shorthanded fashion after a red card.
Luis Gil is the man to watch for Spokane. Gil has one goal for the club, tying him with four other players as team leading scorer, but is consistently graded highly in the team’s matches. On top of his goal Gil also boasts an assist to his name, one of only two players to do so. With him contributing to multiple Spokane goals this season, shutting him down will be paramount to Lexington SC victory.
