LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Kurt Fischer as the club’s Girls Academy Director and head coach of the Lexington SC’s U13 and 14 Girls Academy teams.
In addition to serving those roles, Fischer will advise players through the college recruiting process, and will also help bring premier tournaments and showcases to Lexington.
The Girls Academy is a premier youth platform Lexington SC joined last year, which places top players in regional and national competition and exposes them to first class coaching and recruitment opportunities.
“Kurt is a fantastic addition to an already amazing staff we’ve been building to promote our female player pathway,” said Michelle Rayner, Women’s Sporting Director. “Bringing in a coach with the expertise and experience that Kurt has — including coaching within the Girls Academy — shows the investment Lexington SC is making to build our foundation.”
Rayner continued: “We’re truly excited about the opportunities our young female players will have, not only be able to learn the game from Kurt, but to also develop the necessary life skills that will help them in years to come within our club structure.”
Fischer has worked in soccer for over two decades, most recently serving as the Girls Assistant Director of Coaching at Cincinnati United Soccer Cup (CUP).
With CUP, Fischer was part of two national championships in the Girls Academy and helped win 12 state cups and two National League titles while also coaching current NWSL talents, as well as United States Women’s National Team candidates.
Prior to his work at CUP, Fischer served as the U11-U14 Director of Coaching for Fairfield Optimist Soccer Club for 10 years, also having several other opportunities during that decade, serving as Ohio Mid-Western Head Men’s and Women’s Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach in 2012 and Winton Woods High School Head Girls’ Varsity Soccer Coach from 2009-2011.
He also previously served as Club Director of Coaching for American Soccer Club from 2003-04 and Club Coach for Chicago Kickers Soccer Club from 1999-2002.
Fischer’s involvement with the game hasn’t just been in coaching however, as he also played professional soccer, taking the pitch for the Twin City Tornadoes of the Premier Developmental League, now the USL League Two, (2001-03), Cincinnati Excite in the Adult Indoor Soccer League (2003-07), and both 1790 Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Kings in the Premier Arena Soccer League (2007-2013).
His playing career came after a four-year collegiate career at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Il., where he started all four years, serving as a team captain for two of them. Fischer graduated from TIU in 2002, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports and Wellness Management as well as minors in Business, Psychology, and Coaching.
