LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington Sporting Club women are back at The Stables Saturday night to face off against Tampa Bay Sun FC for the second time in three weeks.
Lexington is looking to shake off a disappointing result last weekend at Fort Lauderdale United FC. The Gals in Green came up short, 2-1, to account for their first loss against Fort Lauderdale since the inaugural 2024/25 season.
Despite the result, it was another match in which Lexington dominated the stat sheet. LSC more than tripled its opponent’s expected goals and nearly tripled its shots and shots on target as well.
In fact, Lexington has won the expected goals battle in six of its seven matches played, despite its 3W-3L-1D record. The only time it did not was its lone draw at Tampa Bay on Oct. 4.
Lexington’s defense, despite conceding twice last time out, is still top-two in the league. Its six goals conceded are tied for the fewest in the Gainbridge Super League alongside Carolina Ascent FC, and its three clean sheets rank second in the league.
The LSC women are officially halfway through the 2026 Fall season and sit in fifth place in a tight table. Four clubs are separated by only one point, and the Gals in Green could jump as high as second place with potentially just a draw vs. Tampa Bay.
LSC is unbeaten in its last four meetings with Tampa Bay, having come away with two wins and two draws.
Kickoff from Lexington SC Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET.
SCOUTING TAMPA BAY
Tampa Bay Sun FC enters play trailing Lexington by just one point and sitting in sixth place in the Gainbridge Super League standings. The group is 2W-2L-1D over its last five outings with six goals scored and seven conceded.
Shea Connors continues to serve as the club’s standout player after signing from top-flight Australia in the offseason. Connors’ five goals rank second in the league, and she had scored in five consecutive matches for Tampa Bay until her side was shut out last weekend by Carolina Ascent FC.
Sydney Nasello is Tampa’s primary playmaker in the midfield. She leads the club with two assists and with 13 chances created.
Between the posts, goalkeeper Cristina Roque owns a 58.8% save percentage through five appearances. The Sun are one of two clubs yet to tally a clean sheet this season.

Lexington’s nine goals in the second half of matches this season lead the Gainbridge Super League.
