LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington Sporting Club came up short vs. DC Power FC Saturday afternoon in a match where nothing went its way. The 2-1 loss featured the first professional goal of Mac Midgely’s career and seven saves from goalkeeper Ryan Campbell.
Lexington got out on the front foot early, but an effective DC press began to stifle the Gals in Green. In a rare occurrence, Lexington struggled to regularly carry the ball out of its own half throughout the period.
Disaster struck in first-half stoppage time when Taylor Aylmer was subbed out due to injury, and a Lexington defender was called for a handball inside the box on the same play. Goalkeeper Ryan Campbell made the initial save on the penalty kick, but DC’s Loza Abera followed up her shot to bury the rebound.
Another defensive miscue by the LSC backline in the 67’ led to DC Power’s second of the match when an errant pass rolled into the lap of the visitors’ Emily Colton, who tucked a shot just inside the far post.
Lexington earned a chance of its own at the line minutes later when a sprawling DC goalkeeper grabbed at Hannah White, pulling her down as the Lexington forward prepared to bypass her in the penalty area. Unfortunately for LSC, the penalty attempt was sent wide as an already bad day for Lexington continued to get worse.
The Gals in Green would find the scoresheet in the dying minutes when Mac Midgely bagged the first goal of her professional career in her pro debut. A pass from Hannah White found the boot of Midgely right in front of goal, and she fired into the goalkeeper’s arms. After a brief moment of confusion, the referee deemed the ball had crossed the line despite winding up in the keeper’s grasp, and the goal was awarded.
LSC was unable to muster a second score as the match concluded 2-1, accounting for the women’s first loss at home since March 8, 2026.
