LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington Sporting Club women and Sporting Club Jacksonville played to an explosive 3-3 draw Friday night at The Stables, a result that keeps Lexington in third place in the Gainbridge Super League standings.
Coming into the match, Sporting JAX and Lexington ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, in goals scored. The first half continued that trend as the two clubs combined for five goals in the period.
The first two belonged to Lexington, beginning with Sarah Griffith in the 11’ minute. A wonderful long ball from Catherine Barry landed perfectly at the feet of Hannah White on the opposite flank. White did well to charge into the box but was dispossessed. However, a half-hearted clearance from Sporting JAX slowly rolled to Griffith at the top of the box. She ripped a shot that deflected on its way in.
Barry accounted for LSC’s second only five minutes later. Griffith combined with Alyssa Bourgeois to free her down the right side. Bourgeois kept her eyes inside while sprinting down the pitch, cutting it back for Barry in front of goal. The striker smashed it for her club-leading fifth goal of the season.
The Gainbridge Super League’s all-time leading scorer, Addie McCain, bagged Lexington’s third of the half in the 45’ minute. Barry picked up the assist on the play by flicking a near-post corner kick service to McCain, who was stationed at the back post.
Jacksonville also found the back of the net in the 18’ and 45+1’ minutes.
Despite the high-flying first period, the second half featured just one goal — a Lexington own goal in the 85’ minute to even things at three apiece.
The draw moved Lexington to 4W-3L-2D on the season. Only one home match remains on the Fall 2026 schedule for the Gals in Green with four slated away from home.
