WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Lexington Sporting Club women kick off the final month of the 2026 Fall Gainbridge Super League season Friday night in the nation’s capital to challenge DC Power FC in a top-four clash.
Lexington finds itself in unfamiliar territory heading into the match. The Gals in Green have won just once in their last five matches, something the club has not experienced since the end of the 2024/25 season when it won just once in its final 14 outings. Nicole Vernis and Hannah White are the only two players currently on the Lexington squad who experienced that stretch.
Despite the lack of three-point outings, LSC has drawn two of its last five matches for a 1W-2L-2D record in October.
Kosuke Kimura’s group still sits above the playoff line with 14 points in 10 matches, and in a tightly contested table, Lexington could jump as high as second with a win at DC.
Lexington remains among the top three Gainbridge Super League clubs in goals (15) and conversion rate (16%), as well as ranking second in clean sheets (3) and total passes (5,407). The Gals in Green are also tied for the best passing accuracy mark in the league (84%).
While Lexington is looking to end a three-match winless streak away from home, DC is aiming to prolong a four-match unbeaten streak at Audi Field.
The all-time series advantage goes to Lexington. In eight meetings, LSC is 3W-2L-3D against DC Power FC, though DC won the latest matchup between the two sides, 2-1, on Aug. 29 at The Stables.
Kickoff from Audi Field is set for 7 p.m. ET.
SCOUTING DC
DC Power FC rides back-to-back wins into Friday night’s matchup with narrow one-goal wins over Dallas Trinity FC and Tampa Bay Sun FC. On the season, DC is 5W-3L-2D and sits in second place, just three points ahead of Lexington, in the Gainbridge Super League standings.
The Ethiopian international Loza Abera has been the spark plug for DC. Now in her third season with the club, Abera leads the side with four goals and is one of seven players on the squad with an assist. The forward accounted for the first goal in the previous Lexington vs. DC matchup.
Goalkeeper Katie Cappelletti’s 31 saves rank third in the league, though DC has managed only one clean sheet this Fall, the second-fewest in the league and better than only Tampa Bay Sun FC’s tally of zero.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Addie McCain enters the weekend with 29 goal contributions over her regular-season Gainbridge Super League career (23 goals, 6 assists), as does Sporting Club Jacksonville’s Ashlyn Puerta (20 goals, 9 assists).
With Sporting JAX not playing until Sunday, McCain would be the first player in league history to reach 30 regular-season goal contributions with a goal or assist at DC Power FC.
HOW TO WATCH
The match will stream live on Peacock.
