
TAMPA, Fla. — The Gainbridge Super League announced Wednesday its Week 1 Player of the Week, as voted on by fans. The first weekly superlative of the Fall 2026 season was awarded to Lexington Sporting Club’s Addie McCain.
McCain made history last weekend, becoming the first player in Gainbridge Super League history to reach the 20-goal mark over her career. The league’s all-time leading scorer hit the back of the net in the 61’ minute to double Lexington’s lead over Brooklyn FC.
The goal marked McCain’s 11th in an LSC kit between regular season and postseason play, tying her alongside McKenzie Weinert for the second-most goals in LSC women’s history.
The midfielder led all players in the match with six touches in the opponents’ box. She also led all players with three chances created and ranked first among the Gals in Green with 12 passes into the final third.
McCain and Lexington Sporting Club will enjoy a Week 2 bye week before hosting DC Power FC at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29.
