LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington Sporting Club men already thundered their way to a historic season, and now comes the feature race — the first playoff match in club history, four years in the making. The Greens enter the final furlong of the 2026 campaign at The Stables this Sunday as they host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Post time is 2 p.m. ET.
Lexington concluded the regular season with the most goals in the USL Championship. The most points in club history. The most wins in club history. The most goals scored in club history. The fewest goals conceded in club history. The list goes on.
Heading into the postseason, LSC looks like one of the best offenses on the planet. The Greens have scored a staggering 24 goals in their last seven matches, resulting in an unbeaten streak to match that is good for the longest in club history.
The firepower runs deep. Marcus Epps, Aaron Molloy, Phillip Goodrum and Blaine Ferri all rank among the top 16 players in the league in goals added. All four players, plus Nick Firmino, tallied double-digit goal contributions.
However, the accolades mean little while there is still work to do, and LSC’s playoff opponents are no pushovers.
Lexington will host No. 5 Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, one of three clubs, along with LSC, that finished the season unbeaten in their last five matches.
One unbeaten streak ends this weekend.
Lexington went 9W-4L-2D at home this season and has only lost once at The Stables since July 15. That lone defeat came against Colorado Springs. The Switchbacks, meanwhile, went 5W-5L-5D away from the altitude of Weidner Field.
The two sides met twice in the regular season, resulting in a 1-1 draw on April 4 and a 1-0 Lexington loss on Aug. 29.
The first men’s playoff match from Lexington SC Stadium kicks off Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
SCOUTING COLORADO SPRINGS
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC clinched the No. 5 seed in the West on the final day of the regular season with a 2-0 win over FC Tulsa.
It ended the season unbeaten in its last nine matches, posting a 5W-0L-4D record over that stretch with a +6 goal differential and six clean sheets, despite scoring only 12 goals and being shut out three times itself.
The club finished the season with 44 goals, the eighth-most in the USL Championship and 38 conceded, tied for the 11th-fewest.
Forward Khori Bennett bagged 15 goals to lead the Switchbacks and finish third in the league in scoring. Adrien Pérez led Colorado Springs with 63 chances created and tied Sadam Masereka for the club lead with four assists.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Five players — Aaron Molloy, Marcus Epps, Phillip Goodrum, Nick Firmino and Blaine Ferri — tallied double-digit goal contributions for LSC this season. Prior to 2026, the feat had been accomplished only three times in club history.
