OAKLAND, Calif. — After suffering a loss in stoppage time last time out, a quick rebound is on the mind of Lexington Sporting Club as it journeys 2,000 miles to the East Bay to challenge Oakland Roots SC Saturday evening.
Lexington is looking to stop a three-match skid, tying its longest losing streak since joining the USL Championship in 2025. Consecutive losses to New Mexico United, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Sporting Club Jacksonville have seen LSC’s record drop to 9W-10L-4D and slide into eighth place in the Western Conference standings.
In two of those three losses, LSC held second-half leads, but multiple concessions within five-and-six minute spans resulted in zero-point outings for the Greens.
Additionally, the Greens tallied 46 total shots, 12 of which were on target, in those three losses. However, the flurry of attempts only netted three goals for a 6.5% conversion rate.
The losing streak comes off the heels of Lexington winning eight of 12 contests through the summer when it posted a 15% conversion rate.
On the season, Lexington’s 16% conversion rate is tied for the sixth best total in the USL Championship.
The absence of midfielder Aaron Molloy in LSC’s last two matches due to injury, who ranks seventh in the league in goals added per American Soccer Analysis, has not made matters any easier.
Seven matches remain for Lexington in the 2026 regular season, four of which are on the road out west. All four away opponents left on the schedule are the four clubs below the Western Conference playoff line, beginning with Oakland Saturday night. Its three remaining home matches are slated against the current No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 clubs in the West.
The Greens will attempt to right the ship Saturday against an Oakland Roots side with only one win over its last nine matches.

SCOUTING OAKLAND
Oakland Roots enter play in 11th place in the Western Conference and struggling mightily. With a 1W-5L-3D record in its last nine outings, Oakland has been outscored 10-5 over that stretch and been shut out four times.
The club is also searching for its first win at home since May 9 when it beat El Paso Locomotive FC, 2-1.
Peter Wilson, the 2025 USL Championship Golden Boot winner, once again leads Oakland in scoring with 11 goals in 21 appearances. The Liberian international has appeared as a substitute in each of the Roots’ last three matches.
Wolfgang Prentice has tallied six assists this season, and goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh has posted a 70.4% save percentage with three clean sheets.
