LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington Sporting Club men’s final match of the month is a crucial one Saturday evening. The Greens will host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in a Western Conference showdown at The Stables beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
Only three points separate the two sides. Lexington currently sits in seventh place with 31 points while the Switchbacks are currently just outside the playoff picture, occupying the ninth spot on 28 points.
Of course, a club’s spot in the table means nothing at this point in a crowded Western Conference. Only six points separate third from ninth as the last two months of the season rapidly approach.
It was a solid overall performance for a heavily rotated lineup last time out for Lexington against Conference-leaders New Mexico United. The first professional goal from center-back Marqes Muir in his first professional start gave LSC the 1-0 advantage in the second half. However, a five-minute defensive lapse is all it took for New Mexico to bag two goals and win the match.
Overall, Lexington is still enjoying an impressive run of form. Head coach Mac Hemmi’s squad is 7W-3L-1D over its last 11 matches with a +9 goal differential.
Additionally, LSC has won each of its last four matches at home by a combined score of 8-2.
LSC and Colorado Springs have matched up three times in their history, acting as neighbors on either side of a 1W-1L-1D picket-fence record.

SCOUTING COLORADO SPRINGS
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC enters play looking to end a skid in which it has gone 1W-4L-0D over its last five matches. Though its 32 goals on the season are tied for fifth-most in the USL Championship and second-most in the Western Conference, the Switchbacks have only mustered four goals in their last five outings while conceding nine.
The bulk of its offensive firepower is credited to one man — forward Khori Bennett. The Jamaican’s 11 goals are tied for second-most in the league, trailing only Ihsan Sacko of Phoenix Rising FC and Darren Smith of Detroit City FC.
Midfielder Adrien Pérez has been a central spark for Colorado, leading the club with 46 chances created and 42 shots on goal.
