
Lexington, KY— Lexington Sporting Club has acquired goalkeeper Brooks Thompson on transfer from USL Championship side Hartford Athletic for the 2025 season, pending league and federation approval.
Thompson, 22, brings professional experience across multiple levels of American soccer. A native of Jeffersonville, Indiana, he began his career at IMG Academy before joining the Sporting Kansas City Academy in 2018. He made his professional debut with Sporting Kansas City II in 2019, recording 12 appearances over two seasons.
In 2021, Thompson signed a homegrown player contract with Major League Soccer’s Sporting Kansas City before joining Philadelphia Union II in 2022, where he made 14 appearances in MLS Next Pro. In July 2023, he was loaned to North Carolina FC, featuring in 15 matches. Most recently, Thompson spent the 2024 season on loan at Spokane Velocity FC from Hartford Athletic, contributing to Spokane’s run to the USL League One Final.
Thompson will join Lexington Sporting Club immediately for preseason training ahead of the 2025 USL Championship campaign.
