LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club is set to face off against Forward Madison FC at home on Sunday, kicking off the quest for the club’s first ever USL Jägermeister Cup trophy. The match is set for 4 p.m. ET and will take place at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Ky.
Firstly, the USL Jägermeister Cup is an in-season cup competition taking part across 8 matches, which will include all 12 clubs in USL League One. There are 3 regional groups composed of 4 teams — In group play, each club will play eight matches – four home and four away. Each club will play twice against every other club in the group plus two matches against clubs from another group, based on geographic proximity, to complete the eight-game group play. The top team from each group will advance to a playoff, along with an additional wildcard slot awarded to the team with the most goals across the competition!
Lexington SC (1-3-2, 5 points) is coming off a 2-2 home draw with Spokane Velocity FC in league play that snapped a losing streak for the club. It has yet to play in a Jägermeister Cup match.
Forward Madison (1-0-3, 6 points) most recently reached a 2-2 draw with Richmond Kickers in league play to remain undefeated on the season. It has also yet to take part in a Jägermeister cup match.

GAME NOTES
Lexington SC will be facing off with Forward Madison for the third time in the club’s histories. The series currently favors Madison, which holds a 1-0-2 record, with the lone win coming in Wisconsin.
Lexington SC not only kicks off its first ever home Jägermeister cup match against Madison, it also previously kicked off its first ever HOME match against Madison over one year ago, reaching a 0-0 draw for the club’s first ever point.
Lexington SC has a new man in charge for the 2024 season with Darren Powell taking the reins for the club from interim head coach Nacho Novo. Sam Stockley, the club’s first gaffer, remains in his sporting director role, overseeing all men’s and boy’s soccer with the club.
The contest will mark the first ever Jägermeister cup appearance for Lexington as it is the first year of the competition altogether. The first ever Jägermeister cup match is set to tip off at 6 p.m. ET tonight between Spokane Velocity and CV Fuego FC.
Devin Boyce is the man to watch for Madison. Boyce has two goals for the club, tying him for club leading scorer this season, while also having one assist, also tying him for assists leader this season with Derek Gebhard. When it comes to preventing Madison from getting on the scoreboard, shutting down Boyce will be pivotal for the Boys in Green if they hope to find victory in their first Jägermeister cup.
