LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club is in the process of building their Marketing and Communications department, beginning with three team members responsible for laying the foundation for the club’s external presence.
The department is responsible for the overall brand awareness, marketing, and promotion for the club, overseeing digital content creation, social media management, newsletter design, press releases, and more. The team’s goal is to ensure constituents of Lexington Sporting Club – from youth program parents to fans of the first team – feel a connection to the club and are informed of the latest news.
Kyle Piercy leads the team as Director of Marketing and Communications, bringing nearly a decade of experience in the athletic communication industry. He joins the club after five years at Centre College in Danville, Ky., where he most recently served as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications.
“I feel very fortunate to be able to join the club at this stage of the process,” Piercy said. “Lexington is a special place, and it’s exciting to help grow the club into something central Kentuckians will be proud to support. I believe in inclusivity and transparency, and look forward to using those principles to connect the club with the community.”
A 2012 graduate of the University of Kentucky, Piercy oversaw the promotion of all of Centre’s varsity sports while serving as the direct media relations contact for most. He and his team also handle the athletics web site and social media accounts, along with all press releases, publications, multi-media assets and statistics.
Piercy earned a Broadcast Journalism degree from UK and has a Master’s in Sports Management from the University of Indianapolis (2016), where he worked in the athletic communications department for four years.
Also joining the Marketing and Communications team is Morgan Proffitt, the Digital Media Content Manager. Along with being a Phase Director for the Lexington Sporting Club youth program, Proffitt plays a vital role as a member of the communications team due to her experience with soccer in the area and familiarity with the player pathway.
She graduated from Marquette University with a double major in Marketing and Supply Chain Management, and earned numerous accolades as a four-year starter with the NCAA Division I Golden Eagles. Soon after she retired from playing professional soccer, she was hired as Project Manager for Lexington Sporting Club Indoor (previously Tower Hill Sports) in January of 2021. Proffitt’s role transitioned into leading the marketing for the facility, and she continues to tackle any new projects as a versatile member of the team.
Sophie Blaine is our Marketing and Communications Intern who will assist in sharing upcoming announcements, creating newsletters for fans, and any other future projects. She is currently an Integrated Strategic Communications major at the University of Kentucky and will be completing her undergraduate degree this upcoming December. She is thrilled to be gaining marketing experience that involves a game she loved playing throughout her childhood.
We are still in the process of expanding our team, so stay tuned for future openings by signing up for our newsletter and keeping up on social media.
