LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club announced another new addition to its 2024 USL League One roster pending league and federation approval on Wednesday.
22-year-old defender Daniel Chica is set to join the club after most recently playing for Loudoun United in the USL Championship.
Hailing from Leesburg, Virginia, the defender started his career with the Virginia Developmental Academy in 2020 after attending Tuscarora High School in his hometown.
He played Division-I NCAA collegiate soccer for the George Mason Patriots for two years and made 21 appearances for the school, also being named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll as a freshman.
Chica left the college game when he signed a professional contract with Loudoun United of the USL Championship. He would go on to make 13 appearances for the club during the 2023 season.
Ahead of the 2024 season Chica became a trialist for Lexington Sporting Club, excelling in the club’s practices and exhibition matches.
“Daniel has impressed the staff during the past weeks and is a player with good potential as a defender,” Lexington SC head coach Darren Powell said. “We are excited to have him on our roster full time and be available for selection.”
The Boys in Green are currently three games into their second professional campaign and sit fifth in the league standings.
“”I’m really excited to join Lexington Sporting Club and grow as a player and person,” Chica said. “I’m excited to be part of the team and looking forward to doing something special this year.”

Lexington SC is set to return to action in its 2024 campaign at home against Greenville Triumph SC on March 29.
