Lexington, KY – Lexington Sporting Club is excited to announce the signing of defender Daniel Wu on a transfer agreement from Greenville Triumph SC, strengthening the squad ahead of the upcoming USL Championship season.
Wu brings a wealth of experience and leadership to Lexington. The Cary, North Carolina, native developed through the North Carolina FC academy, where he captained the team for two years. He went on to play at Georgetown University, making 59 appearances while earning Big East Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Big East honors in 2022.
After an impressive collegiate career, Wu signed his first professional contract with Greenville Triumph SC in USL League One, where he made 32 appearances and scored one goal across the 2023 & 2024 seasons.
“I’m very excited to join Lexington Sporting Club,” said Wu. “There’s a strong belief within the club to win as well as play a style of football enjoyable for the fans. I will give my all on and off the field to honor the belief the club has placed in me.”
Wu joins a Lexington backline that continues to take shape ahead of the club’s first USL Championship campaign. His composure on the ball and defensive intelligence will add valuable depth to the squad, as Lexington looks to make an impact in its inaugural season at the second tier of U.S. soccer.
