LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club proudly announces the appointment of Chris LeFevre as its new USL Academy and Boy’s Player Pathway Director. LeFevre’s extensive background in coaching and player development positions him as a dynamic leader poised to elevate the club’s academy to unprecedented success.
An alumnus of Canisius College, LeFevre earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration in 2006, where he also served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for Men’s Soccer at the NCAA Division I level. His commitment to education is further underscored by his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Adelphi University, where he honed his skills as a Division I collegiate athlete.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Chris LeFevre to be our new USL Academy and Boy’s Player Pathway Director,” said Men’s Sporting Director Sam Stockley. “Having worked with our USL boy’s academy in the past as an assistant coach, we are eager to have Chris step into this director role. He is an exceptional human who understands the importance of developing character in young athletes and using this game as a tool to be able to develop players both on and off the field.”
LeFevre brings 20 years of coaching experience to his new role, having served as the Head Coach for Men’s Soccer at the NAIA University of the Cumberlands since July 2016. Under his leadership, the team achieved historic milestones, including securing the 2020 Mid-South Conference Championship and attaining the highest national rankings and MRPI in school history.
Prior to his tenure at the University of the Cumberlands, LeFevre held coaching positions at NCAA Division III institutions such as McMurry University and Adrian College, where he cultivated winning cultures and prioritized academic excellence. Additionally, he brings experience working in a variety of capacities developing players at the youth level.
“We’re thrilled to embark on this journey alongside Chris, as we further nurture the connection between our youth initiatives and the men’s first team,” expressed Darren Powell, head coach of the men’s team. “With an academy based right here in Lexington, we’re primed to cultivate local talent, giving us a distinct edge within our program.”
In his new capacity as Academy Director at Lexington Sporting Club, LeFevre will continue his legacy of fostering player development and creating a culture of excellence. His leadership will play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of the club’s academy program.
