LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club announced another new addition to its 2024 USL League One roster pending league and federation approval on Friday.
25-year-old midfielder David Loera is set to join the club after most recently playing for San Antonio FC in the USL Championship.
Hailing from Mexico City, Mexico — but being an American national — the attacking midfielder started his youth career with Orlando City SC, who’s first team plays in the MLS.
He began his senior career at Orlando City B before going to play collegiate ball at NC State. During his collegiate career he began playing amateur soccer, joining SIMA Águilas and North Carolina FC U23 in USL League Two.
Loera then rejoined Orlando City SC, signing with the first team in the MLS.
He was then loaned to Phoenix Rising in the USL Championship in 2021.
Following his loan he signed with San Antonio FC where he had remained until joining Lexington. He was a member of the 2022 USL Championship winning squad in San Antonio along with Ates Diouf.
At the international level Loera has also represented the United States, being a member of the U19 United States Men’s National Team.
“(I’m) grateful to sign for this great club and can’t wait to get started,” Loera said.
“We are glad David has decided to join us in Lexington,” Lexington SC head coach Darren Powell said. “David is a creative player who has excellent 1vs1 skills going forward and good vision to bring his teammates into the game in dangerous positions. Out of possession he works tirelessly to pressure and recover the ball for the team. His experiences in both the MLS and USL Championship will be valuable to our team moving forward.”

Lexington SC is set to kick off its 2024 campaign at home against NC Hailstorm FC on March 9.
