LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club announced the official signing of Trinity Watson to its inaugural USL Super League roster pending league and federation approval on Tuesday, July 2nd with Watson becoming the latest standout from the 2024 USL W League season to make the jump.
Watson, a former college standout center back from San Diego, California, played five seasons of collegiate soccer for the Pepperdine Waves from 2018-22, earning numerous accolades as early as her sophomore season in which she started all 20 matches and helped lead her team to 10 shutouts, earning All-WCC First Team honors and United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team honors. The Waves were nationally ranked for all five of her seasons.
She returned to the All-WCC First Team as a junior and cracked the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team as a senior, leading her team to 13 shutouts – one short of a program record.
Returning to college for a fifth year, Watson was placed on the Mac Hermann Trophy – essentially a National Player of the Year award – Watchlist and continued racking up personal accolades as her college career came to an end with her graduation in 2022 with a communications major.
Prior to her collegiate career she was a member of the U14 and U17 U.S. Girl’s National Team from 2013-16.
Post graduation she would go on to be a trialist with Racing Louisville FC and San Diego Wave in the NWSL before joining Indy Eleven in the USL W League, where she helped lead Indy to the 2023 USL W League Championship.
Ahead of joining Lexington SC for the 2024 W League season, Watson played for Apollon Ladies FC in Europe, assisting the Cyprus-based club through UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification where the club advanced through the rounds before being eliminated in the final stage by Portuguese outfit Benfica, who went on to qualify for the knockout phase of the competition.
Lexington SC will kick off its first ever USL Super League season on August 25 away at Carolina Ascent FC before hosting its home opener on September 8, facing the Tampa Bay Sun FC.
“I am so excited and honored to be a part of the culture and environment that LSC is aiming to create here in Lexington! Thank you so much to everyone who had been with me in this process and journey. I am so excited to get started and take the pitch this fall” said Watson.
