LEXINGTON, Ky. — For the first time in men’s club history, Lexington Sporting Club has qualified for the USL Championship playoffs and will host in the first round on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. ET.
With it being the first time the Greens have reached the postseason, we thought we would break down the playoff format and how things will look this November.
LSC clinched the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference, guaranteeing it hosts a Conference Quarterfinal match against the No. 5 seed, which ended up being Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
The highest seed hosts the lower across every playoff matchup throughout the postseason.
If Lexington beats the Switchbacks this weekend, it will play the winner of New Mexico United vs. Phoenix Rising FC. Should New Mexico win, LSC hits the road. If Rising knocks off the favorites, the Greens are back at The Stables.
The dates and times of the Conference Semifinal round are still to be determined.
What if Lexington were to make it all the way to the Final?
Below is the priority order in which each playoff club will host the Final. The order is determined by points collected during the regular season, with in-conference win percentage serving as the tiebreaker.
