TAMPA, Fla. — Two Greens have been named to the USL Championship Week 30 Team of the Week to represent Lexington Sporting Club. Forward Phillip Goodrum received his third consecutive weekly honor, while Marcus Epps was named to the bench to increase his Team of the Week streak to five.
Goodrum’s inclusion marks his fourth of the season and comes on the heels of back-to-back Player of the Week awards.
The forward scored in Lexington’s 3-2 win over Monterey Bay FC on Sept. 26, accounting for his club-leading 11th goal of the season and his seventh over his last three matches played.
Goodrum’s six shots on target were twice as many as Monterey Bay totaled in the match, and he led all players with nine touches in the opponent’s box. He also created one scoring chance, a play in which he was initially given an assist before it was re-awarded to Nick Firmino, won 65% of his duels (11/17) and won possession four times.
Epps scored his seventh goal of the season in the 80’ minute of the match, a goal that wound up being the differentiator between three points and one point for the Greens. He added one scoring chance, won 80% of his aerial duels (4/5), won possession four times and completed three dribbles.
Both players are back in action for third-place Lexington SC when the club hosts first-place El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday, Oct. 3.
