TAMPA, Fla. – Lexington SC forward Ates Diouf was named to the USL League One Week 17 Team of the Week the league office announced Tuesday.
Playing Charlotte Independence on the road on Sunday, Lexington SC ultimately fell 2-1, remaining at 10th in the league standings while Charlotte improved to fourth.
Diouf was the lone goal scorer for Lexington in the loss, finding the net from the penalty spot, becoming the first player other than Don Smart to score on a penalty kick for the club.
His successful conversion brought the club to a perfect 4-4 from the spot.
Diouf is no stranger to the USL League One Team of the Week list, being named Player of the Week in week 12 when he recorded the first ever brace in club history against NC Hailstorm FC.
Lexington SC will look to rebound from the loss against CV Fuego FC in Fresno on July 15 before returning home to face Union Omaha at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Ky., on July 22.
