TAMPA, Fla. – Lexington SC midfielder Nico Brown was honored in the USL League One Week 15 Team of the Week the league office announced Tuesday.
Playing Forward Madison FC on Thursday, Lexington SC ultimately fell 3-2 on the road, falling to 10th in the league standings while Madison rose to second before dropping back down to fourth.
Brown scored both Lexington SC goals in the loss, recording the second brace in club history after Ates Diouf recorded the first against NC Hailstorm FC on June 3.
Brown’s first goal, in the 38th minute, was scored after an assist from team captain Charlie Machell while his second goal, in the 60th minute, came after an assist from Khalid Balogun.
Despite now standing as the leading goalscorer for the club with four goals, the appearance on the Team of the Week was the first for Brown, though Lexington SC still leads the league with the most Players of the Week with four.
With the club’s five-match unbeaten run now over, Lexington SC will look to rebound and remain unbeaten against Tormenta FC when the pair face off at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Ky., on July 2.
