TAMPA, Fla. – Lexington SC’s Amal Knight and Jorge Corrales were named to the USL League One Week 1 Team of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Lexington SC faced off against NC Hailstorm FC in both clubs’ season openers. The match ended in a 0-0 draw and a late save by Knight.
Knight logged three saves during the match, including a thrilling diving punch that became LSC’s BadAss Coffee Moment of the Match.
He started the season off on the right note, earning the home shutout and ensuring no ball found the net for the entirety of the 95 minutes of play.
The appearance on the Team of the Week is his first this season, though the Jamaican sensation featured multiple times last season.
Corrales was also featured on the USL League One Team of the Week for the first time in his career.
A strong defender, Corrales also contributed to the shutout in the home opener, logging two tackles, two clearances and three interceptions.
Maltese midfielder Yannick Yankam was also named to the USL League One Week 1 Team of the Week bench.
Lexington Sporting Club will return to action on Friday, March 15, to face off against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Ky. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
