Lexington Sporting Club announced the official signing of goalkeeper Sarah Cox to the inaugural USL Super League roster pending league and federation approval on Tuesday, July 2nd.
Cox formerly played women’s collegiate soccer at the NCAA Division-I level for the Stanford Cardinal, hailing from Newport Beach, California.
Before entering college she also participated in United States Women’s National Team training camps with the U15s in 2009-10.
While she wouldn’t see the field as a freshman, Cox began play as a sophomore in 2013, starting one match and seeing action in five, allowing just one goal all season.
Coming back as a junior, Cox faced just six shots all season with a strong defense and saved every single one, not allowing a single opposition goal for the entirety of her time on the pitch.
Following the end of her collegiate career, Cox continued her career, suiting up for Miss Kick FC and Fresno Freeze FC in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL).
Now having signed a professional contract with Lexington SC, Cox will continue her career in the inaugural USL Super League season.
