2024/2025 Season
Lexington Sporting Club announced the official signing of goalkeeper Sarah Cox to the inaugural 2024/25 USL Super League roster on Tuesday, July 2 2024.
Cox made her Lexington Sporting Club debut on September 13, 2024, at the iconic Cotton Bowl in a match against Dallas Trinity FC. She went on to start 17 of the club’s 28 matches during the 2024/25 campaign.
One of her several standout performances came on October 13 against Spokane Zephyr, where she delivered a string of outstanding saves, including a reflex stop with her legs on a deflected shot. The effort earned her the USL Super League’s Save of the Month for October and helped secure Lexington’s first-ever professional women’s victory.
Cox continued to shine throughout the season, winning the Save of the Month award a league-leading four times during the Super League’s inaugural campaign. Among those highlights was a stunning diving stop in December at home against Brooklyn, when she tipped a powerful shot over the bar. The save went on to earn the league’s Save of the Year honors.
Before Lexington Sporting Club
Hailing from Newport Beach, California, Cox’s soccer journey began early, earning invitations to U.S. Women’s National Team training camps with the U15s in 2009–10.
She went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level with Stanford University, joining the Cardinal program in 2012. Though she didn’t see action her freshman year, Cox made her debut as a sophomore in 2013, starting one match and appearing in five while conceding just a single goal.
As a junior, she appeared a further four times, facing six shots and saving them all without conceding.
After concluding her collegiate career, Cox continued playing at the semi-professional level, suiting up for Miss Kick FC and Fresno Freeze FC in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), before eventually joining Lexington Sporting Club.
