LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington Sporting Club is bolstering the best defense in the Gainbridge Super League with the addition of Regan Steigleder, pending league and federation approval. 

Steigleder, a versatile defender capable of playing center-back and full-back, spent the previous two seasons with the NWSL’s Kansas City Current. She made eight appearances for the Current during that span before signing with Lexington following the conclusion of the season. 

“I’ve heard so many great things about the coaching staff and players in Lexington,” said Steigleder. “The team is already accomplishing a lot this year, and I’m excited to see how I can contribute to the team’s success for the rest of this season.” 

Prior to signing with Kansas City, Steigleder’s professional career began in Sweden’s second division with KIF Örebro in 2022. In two seasons with the club, Steigleder appeared in 49 of the club’s 50 league matches and started every contest in 2023. She totaled four goals and three assists. 

The former high school Gatorade Iowa Player of the Year (2017) and 3A State Champion attended Northwestern University from 2017-2021, making 86 appearances for the Wildcats with 12 goals and four assists. 

Steigleder joins a Lexington SC defense that has conceded the fewest goals in the Gainbridge Super League through the first half of the season.

She will wear No. 22 and be available for selection by head coach Kosuke Kimura for LSC’s match Jan. 31 at Fort Lauderdale United FC.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Lexington SC women closed out the first half of the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season Saturday afternoon with a 1-1 draw, remaining unbeaten through the first half of the season.

After dominating for the first 28 minutes of play, Lexington was rewarded with the opening goal of the contest. In her first start of the season, Amber Nguyen delivered a lovely corner kick to the feet of Allison Pantuso, and the center-back smashed it for her second goal of the campaign.

Dallas equalized in the 52′ minute following a handball called against Lexington right outside the top of the box. Chioma Ubogagu went for goal on the resulting free kick and found the back of the net.

Two mainstays in Mac Hemmi’s Starting XI all season long, Hannah Johnson and Emina Ekić, both subbed on for LSC midway through the second half, and Ekić made an instant impact.

The midfielder earned a penalty kick in the 70′ minute and took it herself, but the Dallas goalkeeper extended spectacularly to deny the reigning Player of the Year of her third goal this season.

Lexington continued to threaten after the missed opportunity, breaking Trinity FC’s lines and creating space for shots.

However, the match ended 1-1 with Lexington leading in expected goals (1.55-1.02), shots (13-6), shots on target (4-3), big chances (3-0) and possession (59%-41%) among other statistical categories.

The draw marks LSC’s fourth straight as the club heads into the winter break with a 5W-0L-9D record.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Lexington SC women conclude the first half of the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season Saturday afternoon with the chance to enter the winter break unbeaten through 14 matches. 

Lexington is coming off a 2-2 draw vs. DC Power FC, its third one-point affair on the bounce. 

As has been the case in most of LSC’s eight draws this season, the Gals in Green led in shots (17-8), shots on target (9-5) and possession (55%-45%), but never conjured the go-ahead goal. 

LSC still leads the league in goals (27), averaging 2.1 per match, while also conceding the fewest goals per match (1.1). 

That recipe, despite head coach Mac Hemmi wishing those draws turned into wins, is still good for first place in the league. 

On the subject of scoring, Addie McCain is set to enter the break as the league’s all-time leading scorer with 17 goals over the past two seasons. McCain and Catherine Barry are tied for the third-highest goal tally in the league this season at seven apiece. 

Their totals also rank first all-time in LSC women’s history. 

Lexington and Dallas Trinity FC faced off in the Bluegrass earlier this season. It was a resounding victory for Lexington, a 6-1 thrashing featuring braces by McCain and Barry, as well as goals from Emina Ekić and Shea Moyer. 

Kickoff from the Cotton Bowl is set for 3:30 p.m. ET. 

SCOUTING DALLAS 

Dallas Trinity FC’s season can be described in one word — streaky. The club won its first three matches of the season, then picked up only one point over its next six matches, and now enters Saturday’s clash riding a three-match win streak. 

Trinity FC sits in fourth place in the Gainbridge Super League standings, four points behind the league leaders Lexington. 

Dallas’ 14 goals scored are the second fewest in the league, and its 20 goals allowed are the second-most, a number perhaps skewed by two matches in which it conceded 10 goals total — four to Fort Lauderdale on Sept. 13 and six to Lexington on Sept. 26. 

Allie Thornton, last season’s Golden Boot winner, leads the club with three goals. Chioma Ubogagu leads the Texas side with three assists and is tied with Emina Ekić for the league’s all-time assist lead with nine, dating back to last season. 

Goalkeeper Rylee Foster has posted a 63.3% save percentage in 12 matches played with four clean sheets.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — On a Lexington afternoon in which temperatures were below freezing, the LSC women and DC Power FC played to a 2-2 draw, extending LSC’s unbeaten streak to 13 to start the season.

DC opened the scoring in the 21′ minute off the boot of its leading scorer, Gianna Gourley.

Forced to play from behind, Lexington began mounting its attack to equalize, eventually finding it in the 40′ minute.

A poor pass from a DC player fell to the feet of an unmarked Taylor Aylmer in the middle of the pitch. She took four touches, then rifled her left-footed shot into the top corner for her first goal of the season.

The Lexington lead did not last long, however, as a long ball from the visitors six minutes later looped behind the last LSC defender and dropped for Gourley. With an outstretched leg, the forward was able to connect just enough to roll the ball slowly into goal.

Just as it did earlier in the match, Lexington fought back to level the score in the 70′ minute. Alyssa Bourgeois unlocked Catherine Barry down the left flank, and Barry delivered to the substitute McKenzie Weinert in the middle of the pitch.

By the time the final whistle sounded, nothing separated the two sides as Lexington extended its streak of draws to three on the bounce.

LSC still commands the top spot in the Gainbridge Super League standings after extended its unbeaten streak to a league-record 14 straight dating back to last season.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Now unbeaten through 13 consecutive matches — and 12 straight to begin the 2025/26 season — the Lexington SC women prepare for a frigid showdown vs. DC Power FC Saturday afternoon. 

It will mark the last home match for LSC in 2025 before the winter break. 

Lexington enters the match after back-to-back 1-1 draws vs. Tampa Bay and Spokane, looking to return to its winning ways. Before the draws, LSC were winners of three straight. 

With her successful penalty take last weekend, Lexington’s Addie McCain became the Gainbridge Super League’s all-time leading scorer with 17 goals. She leads Dallas Trinity FC’s Allie Thornton, last season’s Golden Boot winner, by one goal. 

McCain has seven goals on the season, tying her with teammate Catherine Barry for the second-most in the league. 

Despite two recent low-scoring affairs, Lexington has built a large lead both in the standings and in the scoring column to reign first. The club still sits atop the Gainbridge Super League table, and leads the league with 25 goals and 186 shots. 

Mac Hemmi’s side matched up with DC on Sept. 12 at Audi Field. The two sides played to a 0-0 draw. 

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET. 

SCOUTING DC 

DC Power FC started the season unbeaten through four matches with a 1W-0L-3D record, but has since gone 1W-6L-1D. Over its last eight outings, DC has conceded 12 goals while its offense has only scored 10. 

In the standings, Power FC finds itself in eighth place with 13 points from 12 matches. The club sits one point above Tampa Bay Sun FC who rounds out the league table. 

Gianna Gourley leads the club with six goals, accounting for more than one-third of DC’s 17scores on the season. She also has two assists to her credit, tying her with Emily Colton and Alexis Theoret for the club lead. 

Goalkeeper Morgan Aquino has posted a 64.6% save percentage with 31 saves and one clean sheet.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington SC women extended their unbeaten streak to 13 matches on Saturday, padding onto their Gainbridge Super League record. A late penalty conversion from Addie McCain salvaged a point vs. Spokane Zephyr FC in the 1-1 affair.

Coming into the match, Lexington and Spokane boasted the top two defenses in the Gainbridge Super League, and both were on full display throughout the first half of play. The two sides played to their fifth consecutive scoreless half after two 0-0 draws earlier this season.

Kat Asman was Lexington’s MVP in the first period. The goalkeeper made three critical saves, the first of which denied Spokane’s Lena Silano just 48 seconds into the match.

In the 61′ minute, Emma Jaskaniec opened the scoring for the visitors. It marked just the third time in 12 matches Lexington conceded the first goal.

It took Lexington 28 more minutes to find the back of the net, and once again, it was Addie McCain in the dying moments to conjure a point for LSC.

On the tail end of a breakaway, the substitute Amber Nguyen was shoved inside the penalty area. McCain stepped up to the spot, sent her shot right as the keeper went left, and the rest is history.

The goal marked McCain’s seventh of the season, tying her alongside teammate Catherine Barry for the second-most in the league.

Now unbeaten through the first 12 matches during the current campaign, Lexington broke the league record for the longest unbeaten streak to start a season, formerly set by Carolina Ascent FC in 2024/25.
