DALLAS, Texas — In an unusual scheduling shakeout, Lexington Sporting Club is off to Texas to take on Dallas Trinity FC for the second time in as many matches Wednesday evening. 

Wednesday’s match has been scheduled since last May when the full 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League schedule was announced. However, inclement weather postponed the previous match between the two, slated for Feb. 14, and it was rescheduled to March 8. 

LSC enters play on the heels of back-to-back losses — its only two losses of the season. However, the numbers from each match would not suggest those results, or the fact that the Gals in Green failed to score in both contests. 

Head Coach Kosuke Kimura’s side outshot its opponents in both losses by a combined 27-14. It created 18 scoring chances in total while limiting the opposition to 11. LSC posted a combined 2.28 expected goals mark while surrendering 2.27 xG. 

Yet somehow, all LSC had to show for its efforts was 0 points and a -4 goal differential. 

The opportunities to score have remained present, just as they have all season for a club that ranks second in the league with 33 goals. 

If one or two moments go Lexington’s way Wednesday and it is able to convert the final action that has eluded the side over its last two matches, a scoring eruption would not be a surprise (case in point, LSC’s 6-1 win over Dallas earlier this season). 

Emina Ekić has returned to the Bluegrass from international duty after missing the last matchup with Trinity FC, adding a boost LSC previously missed. In two matches with Bosnia and Herzegovina during the latest World Cup Qualifying window, Ekić scored twice and tallied five assists.

So far this season, Lexington and Dallas have posted a picket fence through three meetings (1W-1L-1D). A win for either side will claim the season series. 

Kickoff from the Cotton Bowl is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. 

SCOUTING DALLAS 

Lexington SC fans have seen plenty of Dallas Trinity FC this season as the fourth meeting looms. 

Despite only scoring 22 goals in 18 matches this season and posting a negative goal differential, Dallas enters play in third place — two points behind Lexington. Much of its offense has stemmed from forwards Tamara and Chioma Ubogagu, who combined for 29 chances created and six assists. 

Tamara’s loan spell with Dallas ended during the winter break, and since her departure, Trinity FC has only scored multiple goals once in five matches. 

However, Dallas’ defense has been stingy and has only conceded multiple goals once over its last eight outings. It has posted a 4W-1L-3D record over that stretch. 

STAT OF THE MATCH 

At kickoff, it will have been 318 days since Lexington lost a match on the road. Its last loss away from home occurred May 3, 2025, at the hands of Spokane Zephyr FC.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington Sporting Club suffered its second loss of the season in a second-vs.-third-place match against Dallas Trinity FC Sunday. A last-minute goal spoiled the afternoon for Kosuke Kimura’s side as Lexington lost, 1-0.

The first half of play was dominated by Lexington, despite the Gals in Green failing to find the back of the net. They outshot Dallas 9-2, and steered three shots on frame compared to zero for the visitors.

Trinity FC failed to record a touch inside Lexington’s box until 23 minutes into the match.

The trend continued into the second half. LSC earned the lion’s share of scoring chances and once again outshot Dallas in the period, 5-4, but the winning goal never materialized.

In a crushing turn of events for those in attendance, Dallas snatched the three points at stake in the 90+3′ minute of the 93 minutes played. A lazy roller through the box connected with a Trinity FC player, leaving Lexington in shock.

Week 21 of Gainbridge Super League action concludes with Lexington still in second place, three points ahead of Dallas and four points behind league leaders Sporting JAX.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — It’s the women’s turn to take the Lexington SC Stadium stage as a weekend jam-packed with soccer rolls on in central Kentucky. The Gals in Green will host Dallas Trinity FC on Sunday afternoon in a second-vs.-third-place battle. 

The contest was originally scheduled for Feb. 14, but was postponed due to field conditions following last month’s winter storm. 

Lexington suffered its first loss of the season in its last Gainbridge Super League match, its first zero-point outing since May 16, 2025. 

However, the club immediately hopped back in the saddle with a 3-1 win over the NWSL’s Chicago Stars FC in a friendly last weekend. Catherine Barry, Addie McCain and Hannah Johnson all scored in the match, and Sarah Griffith logged two assists. 

LSC will be without Emina Ekić Sunday. The midfielder has donned the No. 10 jersey for Bosnia and Herzegovina in FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifying. In two matches this window, Ekić has scored twice and tallied five assists for her country. 

In two matches against Dallas Trinity FC earlier this season, Lexington posted a 1W-0L-1D record with a +5 goal differential.

SCOUTING DALLAS 

Dallas Trinity FC had a modest six-match unbeaten run of its own snapped last time out with a 2-0 loss to Carolina Ascent FC. 

Despite currently sitting in third place in the Gainbridge Super League standings, Dallas has only scored 20 goals in 16 matches, one more than the two clubs tied for the lowest scoring total of the season. The club has conceded 24 times. 

While Lexington is without Ekić Sunday because of the international break, Trinity FC will be without midfielder Lexi Missimo and forward Sealey Strawn. Missimo is tied for the club scoring lead alongside Allie Thornton with three apiece. 

Tamara and Chioma Ubogagu are tied atop the Dallas assist list with three helpers each. Tyler McCamey has started each of the last three matches in goal for the club, posting a 72.7% save percentage.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington Sporting Club and midfielder Natalie Higgins have reached a mutual contract termination agreement, allowing Higgins to become a free agent.

Higgins has been with the club since Day 1 of its inaugural Gainbridge Super League campaign. She suffered an injury in the 2024/25 preseason, sidelining her until April. Higgins went on to make a full recovery, appearing in five matches for the club and logging 185 minutes at the end of the season.

LSC thanks Higgins for her contributions to the club and wishes her tremendous success in the future.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Gainbridge Super League named three Lexington Sporting Club players to its February Team of the Month Tuesday. Forward Catherine Barry and defender Allison Pantuso were named to the TOTM Starting XI, while forward McKenzie Weinert was named to the bench.

The February Team of the Month also encompasses LSC’s 3-1 win over Fort Lauderdale United FC on Jan. 31.

Barry’s mention marked her second of the season. She notched her third brace of the season on Jan. 31, and registered an assist in Lexington’s 2-1 win over Carolina Ascent FC on Feb. 7. She totaled 14 final third entries over the three matches counting towards the February TOTM. 

Pantuso also earned her second TOTM honor of the campaign, and her second in as many months. She won eight of her nine tackle attempts, including a perfect seven of seven vs. Carolina. Additionally, the center-back recorded 11 clearances and won 18 of 27 duels. 

Weinert’s bench inclusion is her second TOTM nod of the campaign as well, as she previously made the squad in November. She scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season and attempted nine shots, steering five on target. 

All three players are back in Gainbridge Super League play March 8 vs. Dallas Trinity FC.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington Sporting Club has signed McKenzie Hawkins to a Gainbridge Super League academy contract. The deal is pending league and federation approval.

The agreement allows Hawkins to train and compete with the women’s first team and be available for Gainbridge Super League matchday rosters while maintaining her NCAA eligibility. 

Hawkins is a central defender who has competed at a high level in ECNL competition. Known for her composure on the ball and positional awareness, she has developed into a reliable two-way player capable of contributing both defensively and in possession. She is also ranked as the No. 1 high school girls soccer player in Washington for the Class of 2028, according to PrepSoccer.com. 

Hawkins’ passion for the sport began at a young age alongside her brother, with their love for soccer growing after watching the 2014 FIFA World Cup. She has gained international playing experience through time in Spain and Portugal, where she trained and competed in professional youth environments. 

In addition to her development on the field, Hawkins places a strong emphasis on academics and plans to continue her soccer career at the collegiate level and beyond. 

The signing reflects Lexington Sporting Club’s continued commitment to creating professional development opportunities for young players while building a pathway to the Gainbridge Super League. 

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A top-of-the-table matchup between Lexington Sporting Club and Sporting Club Jacksonville results in Lexington’s first loss of the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season.  

Jacksonville came out with early intensity, controlling 73.3% possession in the opening 10 minutes and keeping play largely in Lexington’s half. Lexington’s defensive line held strong, including a massive close-range save from Kat Asman in the 29’ minute.  

Lexington began to find their rhythm midway through the half, registering the first shot on goal and slowly regaining possession.  

Lexington SC came up unsuccessful with JAX scoring twice before halftime, sending Lexington into the break with a two-goal deficit.  

The battle continued into the second half as LSC fought to get a goal on the board.  

Sporting JAX sealed the win with their third goal in the 53’ minute, ending the match 0-3.  

Lexington keeps its second-place position on the table with 30 points through 17 matches.
