SPOKANE, Wash. — The Lexington SC women matched up with Spokane Zephyr FC Saturday night, a reverse fixture from two weeks ago. This weekend’s contest played out much like the first — a 0-0 draw.

Lexington head coach Mac Hemmi felt his side outplayed Spokane in the first meeting, and LSC appeared to do the same in the second. LSC led in xG (1.29-0.41), shots (19-6), shots on target (5-2), final third entries (61-46) and more.

Several first-half attempts nearly trickled into the back for Lexington after an initial block or save was made.

The club’s best scoring chance came in the 52′ minute when Hannah Sharts unleashed a violent header off a set piece towards goal. The attempt was thwarted by a spectacular save from the Gainbridge Super League’s leader in the category, Hope Hisey.

Hisey and LSC keeper Kat Asman both entered the match tied for the league lead in clean sheets and added to their totals, bringing the GSL lead up to four shutouts.

Lexington remains undefeated on the season with a 2W-0L-4D record, one of only two clubs in the league still without a loss. It sits in second place in the Gainbridge Super League standings.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Eight days after tying the record for most goals scored in a single match in Gainbridge Super League history, the still-undefeated Lexington SC women are ready for their encore in Spokane. 

For weeks, the offensive eruption had been brewing. Lexington flashed its offensive prowess with five goals in its first two matches before the scoring went dormant. After six goals vs. Dallas Trinity FC, any questions about the attack were laid to rest. 

Catherine Barry’s brace, her second of the season, propelled her to second in the league with four goals. Addie McCain’s brace in the same match brought her total up to three. 

Both players were named to the Gainbridge Super League’s September Team of the Month, alongside goalkeeper Kat Asman. 

As a club, Lexington now ranks second in the GSL with 11 goals, trailing only Fort Lauderdale United FC by one. 

Complementing the attack is the best defense in the league. Lexington has conceded four times this season, the fewest in the GSL, and has only surrendered one score over its last four outings. 

Asman is tied for the league lead with three clean sheets and owns a 76% save percentage. 

LSC’s combination of potent offense and stingy defense earned it the No. 1 spot in the GSL power rankings heading into this week. 

Saturday’s match against Spokane Zephyr FC is LSC’s first trip to the West Coast this season and the second time the two sides have met in a three-week stretch. 

The previous bout resulted in a 0-0 draw, but one that Lexington led in shots, big chances, touches inside the opponent’s box, possession, duels and more — just not in goals. 

Still unbeaten on the season, Lexington would push its club-best streak to six with at least one point earned.

SCOUTING SPOKANE 

Spokane Zephyr FC enters the match with a 2W-2L-3D record and tied on points with Lexington. 

Zephyr FC has demonstrated the ability to change its shape to best challenge its opponent. It previously opted for a three-back formation vs. Lexington but deployed a four-back system last time out vs. Carolina Ascent. 

Spokane’s defense has been stout to begin the year, conceding six times through seven outings. Goalkeeper Hope Heisy leads the GSL with 22 saves and is tied atop the league with three clean sheets alongside Asman. 

However, goals have been difficult to come by. Spokane has only scored seven times, one better than the lowest mark in the GSL with more matches played.

LSC’s Sarah Griffith and Tati Fung each logged two assists in the 6-1 win over Dallas Trinity FC. It was the first time in GSL history two players recorded multiple assists in a single match. 

Bonus: Speaking of assists, 10 players are tied for the league lead with two — three play for Lexington SC (Emina Ekić, Griffith, Fung).

TAMPA, Fla. — The Gainbridge Super League announced its September Team of the Month Thursday, a squad featuring three Lexington SC powerhouses. Catherine Barry and Addie McCain received first-team honors while Kat Asman was named to the Team of the Month Bench. 

Barry netted four goals in September by way of a pair of braces. She showcased her lethality throughout the month, bagging all four goals on just 10 attempts. She is tied for the second-most goals in the GSL and also created six scoring chances for her teammates. 

Per American Soccer Analysis, Barry leads the league in goals added — a stat measuring a player’s total on-ball contribution in attack and defense.

McCain found the back of the net three times, pairing her scoring contributions with an assist. She ranks seventh in the GSL in xG, and like Barry, created six scoring chances. 

Asman is tied for the league lead with three clean sheets and put up a 77% save percentage. She has played a critical role in Lexington remaining undefeated through five matches to begin the season. 

With Asman in goal, LSC recorded its longest stretch without conceding in club history, 293 minutes. 

The group is back in action Saturday night as unblemished Lexington SC takes on Spokane Zephyr FC. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET on Peacock. 

LEXINGTON, Ky. — It was utter domination at Lexington SC Stadium Friday night as LSC picked apart first-place Dallas Trinity FC’s defense, hanging six goals on the visitors and extending its undefeated streak with the 6-1 win.

It took all of nine minutes for Lexington to find the opening goal of the contest. On a series consisting of back-to-back corner kicks, Tati Fung’s delivery from the left corner glanced off the head of Catherine Barry and just inside the far post.

Only 12 minutes later, LSC got its second, courtesy of Addie McCain. Brilliant build-up play beginning with a clearance from its own 18-yard box resulted in a deadly counterattack, completed by a Sarah Griffith-to-McCain exchange.

Dallas got one back in the 24′ minute, but Lexington immediately recaptured the momentum in the 27′ minute with Barry’s second goal of the match. Griffith again found one of her forward counterparts for her second assist of the evening and Barry’s second brace of the season.

With her second score, Barry became the first player in women’s club history to net multiple braces in her LSC career, doing so in only five appearances.

Her four goals now top the Gainbridge Super League.

After shining in each of LSC’s first four matches this season, Emina Ekić finally opened her 2025/26 scoring account with a beauty in the 71′ minute, extending LSC’s lead to 4-1.

McCain collected her second of the match and third of the season six minutes later. A sprawling effort from the substitute Hannah White nudged the ball to McCain’s feet, and she made no mistake with the chance.

Another substitute, Shea Moyer, also rippled the net in the 90+1′ minute for her first goal of the season to cap the carnage.

Lexington’s six goals were the most the women’s squad has scored in a single match in its history, besting its previous high mark of three.

With the 6-1 demolition, LSC moves to 2W-0L-3D on the season and now sits in second place in the GSL standings.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — An early season clash of the titans will play out at Lexington SC Stadium Friday night as an undefeated LSC side hosts first-place Dallas Trinity FC, presented by Central Bank.

Through its first four matches, Lexington has the best defense in the Gainbridge Super League. It has allowed the fewest goals (3), the fewest shots (13) and leads the GSL in clean sheets (3). 

All three goals Lexington conceded came in the season opener at Fort Lauderdale United FC. Since then, goalkeeper Kat Asman and her backline have been as stingy as they come. 

LSC has kept a clean sheet in each of its last three matches. On the flip side, Dallas has not been shut out this season through five matches played. 

Offensively, Lexington has done the dirty work to create bounties of scoring opportunities — it has just been lacking the final action to turn its last three draws into wins. 

The squad has been credited with 35 scoring chances created, the third most in the league behind Spokane Zephyr FC (who have played three more matches than Lexington) and Trinity FC. Several attempts have narrowly missed the target by inches, and LSC has been denied by the woodwork five times already. 

“Scoring is the hardest thing to do in our game,” Head Coach Mac Hemmi told local media after LSC’s 0-0 draw vs. Spokane last weekend. “Our mentality around the box could be a little more active and a little more relentless, but we are just getting started. The floodgates will open up.” 

Leading the chances-created charge is Emina Ekić. She ranks first among all GSL players in chances created (15), crosses (35) and is tied for the league lead with two assists. 

In four meetings last season, Dallas claimed all 12 points. However, this year’s LSC squad resembles little of last year’s group in terms of results to start the season. 

Kickoff from Lexington is set for 6 p.m. ET. 

SCOUTING DALLAS 

Dallas Trinity FC enters the match atop the Gainbridge Super League with 10 points earned in five matches and a 3W-1L-1D record. The squad from the Lone Star State has scored six goals and conceded six to boot. 

Trinity FC operates in a 4-2-3-1 shape, the same formation Mac Hemmi prefers to deploy. 

Up top, Lexington will need to watch out for forward Allie Thornton and midfielder Chioma Ubogagu. Thornton leads Dallas with two goals while Ubogagu shares the league lead in assists with Ekić (2). 

STAT OF THE MATCH 

Lexington SC is up to 270 minutes without conceding a goal, a club record. During this stretch, Kat Asman’s three shutouts have yielded her the most clean sheets in club history. 

HOMETOWN HEROES NIGHT

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington SC’s defensive prowess was on full display once again Saturday night, earning its third consecutive clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Spokane Zephyr FC and remaining unbeaten to start the 2025/26 season.

The defining moment of the match occurred only 11 minutes in. It appeared Sarah Griffith opened the scoring after she followed up an initial shot off the post from Addie McCain. Ultimately, Griffith was deemed marginally offside and the goal was disallowed.

Lexington continued to threaten throughout the first half while holding Spokane at bay. Emina Ekić ran wild and Catherine Barry nearly found the back of the net twice, but the Greens walked into the tunnel without a lead.

Spokane captured the initial momentum out of the break — something that did not last long. LSC out-possessed and outshot Spokane with Ekić still sparkling, breaking lines and hammering the crossbar with a shot.

Despite asking serious questions of Spokane throughout the match, Lexington was unable to ultimately break through.

The defense was impeccable from start to finish, limiting Zephyr FC’s danger up front and extending its shutout streak to a club-record three matches.

Goalkeeper Kat Asman and her backline now lead the Gainbridge Super League in clean sheets through four matches.

“I think it’s a great stat — the best start in program history — but at the same time, our expectations of ourselves are much higher,” Head Coach Mac Hemmi told local media post-match. “We should not be sitting one win after four games. We are just getting started, and we must continue to build. We’re waiting for the floodgates to open up.”

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Saturday night will feature four Lexington SC women facing off against the club they represented a season ago, all of whom served as crucial pillars for Spokane Zephyr FC. 

Midfielders Emina Ekić and Taylor Aylmer, defender Alyssa Bourgeois and forward McKenzie Weinert were not only teammates in Spokane a season ago, but key contributors for Zephyr FC. 

Spokane tallied 37 goals last season — those four combined for 17 of them. Additionally, they accounted for nine of Zephyr FC’s 19 assists. 

Lexington SC has looked stout to start the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season, collecting back-to-back clean sheets and posting a 1W-0L-2D record through three matches. 

Earlier this week, the league awarded LSC the No. 2 spot in the Gainbridge Super League power rankings despite having played the fewest matches so far, indicating LSC’s dominance on the pitch despite two draws. 

With a win, Mac Hemmi’s group would move to a perfect 2W-0L-0D at home to begin the new campaign.

SCOUTING SPOKANE 

Spokane enters the match with a 1W-2L-2D record, tied on points with Lexington (5) while having played two more matches than the Greens. The Washington side has managed six goals and conceded six times. 

Zephyr FC switched formations last time out, swapping the 4-4-2 it deployed to begin the season for a 3-5-2 shape. The tactical change yielded Spokane its first win of the season, a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Sun. 

Forward Lena Silano leads the club with three goals and is tied for the league’s best mark, while four players have an assist apiece. Goalkeeper Hope Hisey has made 15 saves on 21 shots faced, the highest total in the GSL. 

STAT OF THE MATCH  

Lexington has not allowed a goal in the last 180 minutes of play. Its longest stretch without conceding is 203 minutes, a mark established last season through three matches (Feb. 22, March 1 and March 9). 

Should LSC hold Spokane scoreless into the 25’ minute, it would break its current record.
