LEXINGTON, Ky. — If everything falls into place this week in Gainbridge Super League action, the women of Lexington Sporting Club could clinch the first-ever playoff spot in club history. 

With a magic number of only four, LSC could secure its postseason spot as early as Saturday. 

Welcome back to LSC’s POV — Gainbridge Super League Week 25 edition. 

Some Background 

As a quick recap, four clubs make the playoffs. The top two host a playoff match, and the Final will be played at the highest remaining seed’s stadium. 

Lexington enters the week in second place and riding a three-match win streak, the longest active streak in the league. The Gals in Green trail league leaders Sporting JAX by four points and are eight points clear of the playoff line. 

Where We Are 

Lexington’s magic number sits at four, meaning a combination of four points earned by LSC or dropped by DC Power FC (the fifth-place club below the playoff line) secures the first playoff berth in Lexington Sporting Club history. 

That number is derived from the maximum number of points each club can collect before the season ends. While five points is technically the difference in possible points between LSC and DC, Lexington owns the tiebreaker and can clinch at four. 

The first tiebreaker in the standings is goal differential, a statistic in which LSC holds a +19 to 0 advantage over the Power.

What exactly should that translate to for an LSC fan? Root against DC Power FC until Lexington clinches (or through the end of the season, you do you). 

Who does DC match up with this week? Fort Lauderdale United FC. Tonight. 

The Scenarios 

• A DC loss this evening would allow Lexington to clinch Saturday with a win or draw at Carolina Ascent FC. 

• A draw in tonight’s match means LSC would need to beat Carolina this weekend to clinch this weekend. 

• A DC win means Lexington would need to wait at least one more week to clinch a postseason berth.

The only caveat to all this would be LSC’s +19 goal differential falling below DC Power’s zero before LSC picks up or DC loses a combination of five points. We aren’t anticipating that happening.

The Gals in Green are on the precipice of history — be sure to keep an eye out on tonight’s result between Fort Lauderdale and DC, and tune in to Lexington’s match Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on Peacock. 

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Lexington Sporting Club announced Friday the departure of midfielder Shea Moyer on loan to Fort Lauderdale United FC.

Moyer, a staple of the club since its inaugural match on August 25, 2024, has amassed 48 appearances for Lexington over the last two seasons to lead the club. Her eight goals rank second in club history, and her five assists are tied for the top total.

This season, Moyer appeared 20 times for LSC and tallied three goals.

The transaction will allow Moyer to see increased minutes on the pitch, and Lexington Sporting Club wishes a club legend nothing but the best while in Florida.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following an 80-minute weather delay in the nation’s capital, the curtain finally rose on the Catherine Barry show as her fourth brace of the season propelled Lexington Sporting Club to its third straight win.

In the 49’ minute, LSC broke down the left flank through Hannah Johnson, who split two defenders with a pass to find a wide-open Barry lurking at the top of the box. The goalkeeper managed to get a hand on the attempt, but Barry laced it with enough power that it still rippled the back of the net.

Johnson earned her third assist of the campaign on the play.

Barry outdid herself for the second of the night — a goal that is now the instant frontrunner for the Gainbridge Super League’s goal of the season.

The forward received the ball at the midline, began to dribble, then decided to launch from another zip code. Her shot from 40 yards out caught the keeper out of position and dipped just below the crossbar, immediately drawing celebrations and looks of bewilderment from the Lexington bench.

The wonder strike was Barry’s 12th of the season and put her in sole possession of the Gainbridge Super League Golden Boot lead.

Barry’s performance marked her fourth two-goal outing of the season, the most in the league.

Not to go unnoticed, LSC picked up its third consecutive clean sheet and became just the third club in the Gainbridge Super League to do so twice this season.

Lexington is now right on the heels of Sporting JAX in the standings, trailing the league leaders by only one point.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Lexington Sporting Club women have their eyes set on a fourth consecutive result Wednesday night in the nation’s capital against DC Power FC. 

LSC has refound its form as of late, just in time for the final stretch of the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season. After starting the year unbeaten through 16 matches, the club faced a bit of adversity with back-to-back losses earlier in the spring. 

However, after collecting seven points over its last three outings and currently riding back-to-back shutouts, the Gals in Green’s swagger is back. 

We’re getting close to the time of year where magic numbers become a common talking point — the number of points a club needs to collect or others around it in the standings must drop to clinch a playoff spot. 

Currently, Lexington is eight points clear of the playoff line and in a position to host a playoff match at Lexington SC Stadium for the first time in club history. It trails first-place Sporting JAX by four points. Both clubs have played 21 matches. 

Sporting JAX will host Brooklyn FC Saturday at 2 p.m. ET for those inclined to watch. 

But first, DC Power FC. 

In two previous meetings, LSC and DC have drawn twice. The first matchup resulted in a 0-0 draw at Audi Field. The second ended 2-2 and featured goals from Taylor Aylmer, McKenzie Weinert and a brace from Gianna Gourley. 

Kickoff from Washington is set for 7 p.m. ET. 

SCOUTING DC 

DC Power FC enters play in fifth place, only three points out of playoff position. The club has posted a 2W-2L-1D record in its last five matches with four goals scored and four goals allowed. 

On the season, DC ranks in the middle of the pack in most offensive and defensive categories — fourth in goals (26), fourth in conversion rate (13%) and fifth in goals conceded (24). 

Gianna Gourley, DC’s leading scorer with eight goals, is unavailable due to injury Wednesday night. She was subbed off at halftime in the club’s previous match vs. Tampa Bay Sun FC. 

Makenna Gottschalk made her fourth start in goal last time out. She has posted a 77.8% save percentage on the season, saving 14 of 18 shots faced with one clean sheet. 

STAT OF THE MATCH 

The Golden Boot race is on. Catherine Barry, the first double-digit goal scorer in Lexington Sporting Club women’s history, only trails Sporting JAX’s Ashlyn Puerta by one goal.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Lexington Sporting Club bested Brooklyn FC for the third time in three meetings Sunday afternoon, all of which were by way of the shutout. An early goal by McKenzie Weinert was all the cushion LSC needed to secure all three points.

It did not take long for the match to tilt in favor of Lexington — eight minutes, to be exact.

Catherine Barry received the ball in the middle of the pitch and saw Weinert’s darting run to her left. Despite facing the opposite direction, Barry somehow contorted her body around to lay a picture-perfect pass in between three defenders and into the path of Weinert.

Weinert unleashed a shot, and just like that, LSC claimed the early lead.

In the process, Weinert became the fourth player in club history to score six goals or more in a season (Madi Parsons, Catherine Barry, Addie McCain).

Down a goal, Brooklyn came out pressing high and creating issues for Lexington throughout the half. LSC was forced to quickly adopt a “weather-the-storm” mentality, a task the best defense in the Gainbridge Super League was more than up for.

Lexington kept Brooklyn off the board, earning its second consecutive clean sheet and its seventh shutout of the season. The Gals in Green are now tied for the second-most in the league.

The three points LSC picked up Sunday make it seven total points earned over its last three outings. With the win, Lexington moved to 9W-2L-10D.

MCKENZIE WEINERT — 8′ MINUTE

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — After the men thumped Brooklyn FC earlier this week, it is the Lexington Sporting Club women’s turn to challenge the New York side at their place Saturday afternoon. 

Lexington is coming off a professional 2-0 win over Fort Lauderdale United FC. The first goal of Darya Rajaee’s LSC career and a penalty take from Sarah Griffith got the job done, stabilizing the club after a mini three-match slump. 

Sole possession of second place in the Gainbridge Super League belongs to Lexington, who sits on 34 points with eight matches remaining this season. LSC is five points clear of the playoff line and trails league-leaders Sporting JAX by six points. 

Saturday’s fixture between LSC and Brooklyn represents the third meeting between the sides this season. Lexington won both matches, 2-0, and the matchup has featured goals from McKenzie Weinert, Addie McCain and two from Catherine Barry. 

For Barry, the Gainbridge Super League Golden Boot race is on. Her 10 goals are only one score shy of JAX’s Ashlyn Puerta’s total. 

Barry does, however, lead the league in goals added with 3.46 — a statistic that measures a player’s total on-ball contribution in attack and defense by calculating how much each touch changes their team’s chances of scoring or conceding across two possessions, per American Soccer Analysis. 

Six of Lexington’s final eight matches of the season are against clubs currently below the playoff line, two of which include Brooklyn. The two sides meet for the final time in the regular season May 10 in the Bluegrass. 

Dating back to the 2024/25 campaign, Lexington has not lost to Brooklyn in its last four meetings. 

Saturday’s kickoff from Maimonides Park is set for 1 p.m. ET. 

SCOUTING BROOKLYN 

Over its last four matches, Brooklyn has posted a 1W-3L-0D record in that span. Its 3-0 win over last-place Tampa Bay Sun FC March 18 was its first win since Dec. 13. In all three losses, Brooklyn was shut out. 

Catherine Zimmerman and Rebecca Cooke lead the way with six goals each. Sam Kroeger has played the primary distribution role this season for the club, leading with five assists and tied alongside Jessica Garziano atop the club’s chances created chart (19). 

Goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty has posted a 59.3% save percentage on the season. She has made 32 saves on 54 shots faced and recorded two clean sheets. 

STAT OF THE MATCH

With Darya Rajaee’s goal last week, her second of the Gainbridge Super League campaign dating back to her time in Fort Lauderdale, she became the ninth member of Lexington’s roster to score multiple goals this season. Dallas Trinity FC is the only other club in the league with nine multi-goal scorers.

However, no player on Dallas’ roster has more than three scores to their credit. Lexington has five players with three or more goals — Catherine Barry (10), Addie McCain (7), McKenzie Weinert (5), Sarah Griffith (4), Shea Moyer (3).

LEXINGTON, Ky. — After going winless in three consecutive matches, Lexington SC bounced back Saturday evening with a 2-0 victory over Fort Lauderdale United FC and its sixth clean sheet of the campaign.

The first half was dictated by the two goalkeepers, Lexington’s Kat Asman and Fort Lauderdale’s Haley Craig. Craig came up with four crucial stops to keep LSC off the board, while Asman saved three attempts herself.

Although it did not score in the period, Lexington totaled 32 final third entries, 27 touches in Fort Lauderdale’s box and nine shots. It also retained 69% of possession through the first 45 minutes.

It did not take long for Lexington to break the deadlock in the second half. Midfielder Darya Rajaee, who spent the first half of the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season with Fort Lauderdale, had to be the one to do so in the 48′ minute.

Rajaee issued a challenge deep within enemy territory and won her tackle attempt. She immediately charged towards goal and buried the shot for her first goal in green.

Sarah Griffith doubled Lexington’s lead from the spot in the 82′ minute with her fourth goal of the season. McKenzie Weinert tore down the left flank, and Fort Lauderdale had no choice but to pull her down in the box.

Griffith was awarded the attempt and beat the keeper to her right.

The 2-0 win was Lexington SC’s first win at home since October 31, 2025. As a result, LSC sits at 34 points on the season and remain in second place in the standings. The Gals in Green sit three points behind league-leaders Sporting JAX, who play Sunday.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Only four home matches remain for the Lexington SC women in the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season. In their continued quest to lock down a playoff spot, a win over Fort Lauderdale United FC Saturday keeps the pace for the Gals in Green. 

The top of the league standings is becoming more crowded each week. 

LSC gained ground on first-place Sporting JAX with its draw at Dallas Trinity FC Wednesday. Unfortunately, that draw also meant Lexington was unable to further extend its lead over fourth-place Dallas, who is also tied on points with Carolina Ascent FC. 

Only two of LSC’s final eight matches are against top four clubs. Meanwhile, five are against the bottom three in the league — Tampa Bay Sun FC, Brooklyn FC, and Saturday’s opponent, Fort Lauderdale. 

This weekend’s clash constitutes the fourth meeting of the season between LSC and FTL. The tie has been great for soccer fans who love goals. Each match has featured at least four total goals, and 16 have been scored by both clubs combined. 

LSC owns 11 of those 16 goals, propelling it to a 2W-0L-1D record against the Florida side this season.  

Four Lexington women have scored multiple times against Fort Lauderdale — Catherine Barry leads all scorers with three, while McKenzie Weinert, Sarah Griffith and Addie McCain have found the scoresheet twice. 

Speaking of scoring, Barry’s midweek equalizer in the 90+3’ minute was her 10th goal of the season. With the score, she became the second player to reach double digits this season and the eighth player in league history to score 10 or more goals in a single season. 

Barry also became the second player in Lexington history to reach double-digit goals in a single campaign. Ates Diouf accomplished the feat on the men’s side in 2023 after bagging 15 in USL League One play.

SCOUTING FORT LAUDERDALE 

Fort Lauderdale United FC enters play winless in its last 10 outings. The club began the season 3W-0L-3D, then got pummeled by Lexington, 5-1, and has posted a 1W-7L-4D record since. 

Its –15 goal differential is the lowest mark in the league, as is its average of two goals conceded per 90 minutes. 

Kiara Locklear leads the side with five goals, and Stella Nyamekye and Kelli Van Treeck are tied for the club lead with two assists. Fort Lauderdale’s goalkeeping room has seen constant rotation, with Haley Craig getting the most recent nod. Craig has posted a 63% save percentage with 10 stops in three appearances. 

STAT OF THE MATCH 

Fort Lauderdale has conceded a league-high five goals inside the opening 15 minutes of matches and a league-high nine goals in the final 15 minutes of matches this season. Meanwhile, Lexington has scored eight times in the first and final 15 minutes of play, and its leading scorer, Cat Barry, has opened the scoring three times.
