LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Sporting Club is pleased to announce the signing of 18-year-old Colombian defender Sintia Cabezas on loan from San Diego Wave FC for the 2025 season, pending league and federation approval. Cabezas’s contract is subject to a medical examination and receipt of her International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa.
Cabezas, who hails from Cali, Colombia, made her professional debut at just 16 years old with América de Cali in Colombia’s first division. Over her career with the club, she has made 47 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist as a defender. Cabezas was a key player in the team that won the 2022 Liga Femenina title and helped secure a third-place finish at the 2022 Copa Libertadores Femenina.
On the international stage, Cabezas has earned 24 caps for Colombia’s U-20 National Team. She played a crucial role in their historic quarterfinal run at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup held in Colombia, providing an assist in the Round of 16 to help secure a win over Korea Republic. Standing at 5-2, Cabezas started all five matches of the tournament, anchoring the defense as Colombia kept four consecutive clean sheets through the group stage and knockout rounds.
Fans can expect to see Cabezas join Lexington Sporting Club for the 2025 season, where she will continue to develop and contribute to the team after her loan transfer from San Diego Wave FC is finalized.
