Born in St. Andrew, Jamaica, Amal Knight joined Lexington SC’s inaugural season roster with a wealth of goalkeeping experience.
The experience translated well, with Knight taking over as the club’s primary starting keeper for the 2023 season.
He excelled in the role, breaking the USL League One record for most Save of the Week awards with eight and was a regular feature is the USL League One Team of the Week.
Knight made 80 saves in his first campaign with LSC to finish second in the league in saves per 90 (3.3).
Prior to Lexington, he most recently played for Harbour View Football Club in the top flight Jamaica National Premier League, making 19 appearances during 2022. He has limited USL experience, as well, competing for San Diego Loyal and FC Tucson (on loan) during 2020.
Knight earned a scholarship to the University of the West Indies and played for UWI Football Club from 2013-19. Making 94 appearances, he was part of the club’s first ever promotion to the National Premier League following the 2014-15 season.
On the international side, Knight made his debut for Jamaica in 2018, and has made an appearance in 11 FIFA matches since. He was also called to national team duty during the 2023 season for the CONCACAF Nations League
“To be one of the first singing means that the coaching staff think highly of me, so I’ll do my utmost to reward the organization and the fans,” Knight said ahead of the 2023 season. “Being a part of this organization, I hope to create special memories and to set a standard for the club in years to come.”
