
Lopez, 20, joins Lexington SC with an impressive resume, having been a key starter for the Colombia national team at both the 2022 and 2024 U20 World Cups. She was instrumental in Colombia’s run to the quarterfinals as the host nation in 2024, scoring the team’s opening goal in front of over 35,000 fans against Australia in Bogotá. Her defensive prowess contributed to Colombia keeping clean sheets in all of their first four games of the tournament.
At the club level, Lopez played for Independiente Medellín in Colombia’s top flight before moving to South American giants Atletico Nacional, where she competed in the 2023 Copa Libertadores. In 2024, she was a defensive rock, winning 81.2% of defensive duels and 83.5% of aerial duels. She also demonstrated composure in possession, completing 86.4% of her passes. While primarily a central defender, she is also comfortable playing at fullback, bringing versatility to the squad.
